Situated within the Murrindindi Shire (external link), Eildon Pondage is a shallow lake surrounded by parkland and walking trails. The Pondage is recognised as one of the most fished destinations in Victoria due to the easy access and beautiful surrounds.
Anglers please be aware that levels of the pondage fluctuate due to regular releases of water from Eildon dam and extraction of water for regional irrigators.
There is no boating allowed on Eildon Pondage, however most of the shoreline is accessible to anglers. Access signs are located around the lakes edges.
Fish you may catch:
- Eildon Pondage is well renowned for its rainbow trout and brown trout fishing. Both species are regularly stocked by Fisheries Victoria.
- Anglers may also occasionally catch golden perch and redfin.
Fishing methods include bubble floats with bait, and lures for redfin and trout.
