Selection of Grapevine Rootstocks and Clones for Greater Victoria
Sound knowledge on the use and appropriateness of rootstocks and clones is basic to the long term sustainability and profitability of wine grape growing in Greater Victoria. To make this information readily available and easily accessed by grape growers, the Greater Victoria Wine Grape Industry Development Committee (the IDC) initiated the preparation of this booklet. The IDC is grateful for the co-investment provided by the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation, and for the technical expertise provided by the Department of Primary Industries via its Senior Viticulturist at the time, John Whiting, who prepared the booklet.
The booklet describes the general characteristics of rootstocks and then specific information about particular rootstocks. The use of grapevine clones is also discussed, and summaries of rootstock and clonal trial results are provided. The print version is no longer available so DPI have made the book available through this website.
