As part of its ongoing advisory role, Energy Division undertakes research to lead and support policy development, and the implementation of Government policy.

In consultation with key stakeholders including consumer and industry groups, other government agencies and those with expertise in a range of disciplines, the Energy Division coordinates a range of policy projects. Examples from recent years include the restructuring of the energy sector, the introduction of full retail competition, national energy market reform and responding to the greenhouse challenge for energy.
