Solar Atlas

On 16 June 2008 the Premiers of Victoria and Queensland announced their intention to jointly develop a detailed Solar Atlas. The Atlas will enable companies to identify the best locations for solar energy generation with land suitability and transmission network overlays. Media Release.

An Invitation for Offers to develop the Solar Atlas was released on 3 January 2009 and closed on 16 February 2009. A joint panel of Victorian and Queensland Government officials assessed these tenders. The contract for work has been awarded to Hydro Tasmania Consulting (HTC). Work is expected to commence in 2009 and conclude by the end of 2010.
